Apple has provided the fifth build of watchOS 10 to developer beta participants for testing, as the fall release gradually gets closer.

Developers taking part in the beta program can acquire the latest versions via the Apple Developer Center or by updating their devices with the beta software. Public beta versions are generally available shortly after the developer releases through the Apple Beta Software Program.

The fifth build is number 21R5332f, replacing the fourth, 21R5320i.

The fifth replaces the fourth, which was distributed on July 25, while the third landed on July 5, which takes over from the second from June 21, while the first appeared on June 5 following the WWDC keynote.

Faces and widgets are the main focus of changes to watchOS 10, with Smart Stack triggered by the Digital Crown listing widgets and useful information. The Digital Crown can also bring up the Control Center in a change of its function.

New Palette and Peanuts watch faces are included in the release, whileApple's core apps are refined to provide more glanceable information and to take up more of the display.

Apple has provided the design language it uses to developers of third-party apps, to make sure there's more cohesiveness.

Cyclists gain new views to help monitor cadence, speed, and power when working out, and is complete with a new Live Activity for iPhone that can be expanded full-screen.

Hiking workouts include views for important safety waypoints, such as the Last Cellular Connection Waypoint and the Last Emergency Call Waypoint. There are also Elevation Views, Topographic Maps, and trail searches.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly suggest users don't install beta operating systems or other beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
